Kodiak’s new Nighthawk Nickel property adjoins a significant new nickel discovery by Golden Chalice Resources Inc. (1.14 % Ni over 72.5 metres), near Timmins, Ontario. Kodiak’s property covers more than 7,100 ha (17,544 acres), and is 100% controlled. The ground was identified as prospective by Kodiak’s geologic team after analysis of geologic and geophysical data, immediately following Golden Chalice’s announcement. Kodiak’s claims are located 20 kilometres south-southeast of the Kidd Creek Metallurgical Complex, which recently added a circuit to process nickel sulphide.
The company is very pleased with the geologic team’s ability to react quickly and mobilize staking crews to tie up prospective ground in the discovery area. Kodiak is currently compiling drilling records, district files and additional geologic and geophysical data in order to prioritize areas for detailed evaluation. Kodiak expects to have field crews on the ground as soon as practical to begin a detailed evaluation of the potential of these claims. Kodiak continues to investigate other nickel opportunities as part of a strategic growth plan recently initiated by the company.
